Plan around coverage, then repair the makeup
Golf, an outdoor ceremony, or a long lunch can outlast sunscreen applied before makeup. Reapplication needs enough product and an even layer. Preserving foundation becomes secondary when it conflicts with those requirements.
The FDA's sunscreen guidance calls for reapplication at least every two hours, with additional attention to swimming and sweating. Read the individual package for water resistance and towel-drying directions. A makeup-friendly description is not a substitute for those instructions.
Lotion lets you see what you dispense
A lotion lets you dispense a quantity before distributing it. Applying over foundation may move concealer or powder, so allow time for repairs. A clean sponge may help with placement, but a thin cosmetic layer does not establish labeled SPF protection.
Sun Bum Original SPF 50 Sunscreen Face Lotion illustrates why the label matters: its page states 40-minute water resistance. Do not extend that to 80 minutes. Where online directions appear inconsistent, use the current package and seek clarification rather than adopting the longer wet-exposure interval.
Practical golf-bag items include a closed tube, a clean applicator if you use one, and a mirror. None proves the sunscreen will remain invisible over your foundation.
A stick keeps the kit compact

A stick also needs hand contact for even application. The AAD advises four back-and-forth passes over each area, then rubbing it in. That can disturb makeup. Two light cheek swipes are not an adequate workaround.
Powder and mist require deliberate use

Spray sunscreen should go onto the hands before the face, while avoiding inhalation. Fine mist does not remove the need to spread enough product evenly. Its application is less hands-free than the packaging may suggest.
Build in a break
Blot surface sweat gently, apply according to the sunscreen instructions, and let the layer settle before repairing makeup. Carry enough for the event and use shade, a hat, and sunglasses where practical. A predictable break with adequate coverage is more useful than a touch-up method that leaves too little sunscreen on the skin.
